Description

The Ultimate .45 ACP Dry Fire Kit

This kit is a one stop shop for setting up your favorite .45 ACP pew pew for dry fire practice. The main part of this kit has a slide lock block (SLB) insert that you install in your magazine. This will prevent your slide from locking back with the magazine inserted.

I have also designed a .45 ACP snap cap with a twist that will give it more use before wearing out. This snap cap is rimless so that it will remain in the chamber when racking your slide.

Lastly, there is a bore rod to push the snap cap out when you are finished practicing.

The Slide Lock Block(SLB) insert:

This insert is marked with a ‘G’ is for Glock magazines. This is the only magazine I have tested. I am currently working on a .45 insert for a single stack 1911 magazine and will add it to this profile when it is done.

.45 ACP Snap Cap:

This is a 2 -piece design. You will need an easy flowing silicone sealant (caulk) and some tape to put these together. To assemble, grab a piece of tape (duct, painters, whatever) sticky side up and stick the primer on it. Then just squeeze a small glob of silicone through the bottom opening of the ‘bullet’ end and seat it on top of the primer. It should be set for use within 24 hours. If you make a little bit of a mess – just peel the silicone off after it dries. The silicon will give the primer a tiny bit of flex when the firing pin strikes it which reduces wear on the PLA. I used Gorilla “100% Silicone Sealant” for this.

Final Notes:

Tolerances are tight with things like this and thermal expansion properties of PLA different from brands and colors. I used Kingroon PLA for the snap caps and have not set X-Y hole compensation. The snap caps printed fit my .45mm glock chambers and is loose enough to shake out. If you need to adjust the fit, you can scale the x-y values but be sure to leave the Z height alone (or it will not chamber correctly).

Lastly – and this should go without saying. Be safe. Always make sure your pew pew is completely unloaded. If you are using the SLB insert – don’t be lazy; Unload the mag before you use it.
