UFO Lamp / Christmas Tree Topper

I designed and made this unique Christmas tree topper.

I am a fan of UFOs and tried printing existing models for this use, but i didn't like how they turned out.

Initially, i printed this small enough that i could print it 100% on my A1 mini, but my wife said it was a little small ( not the first time i have heard that), so i chopped it into quadrants.

As designed every thing locks together well with the dove tails and dowels without glue. You can glue the beam in, but I used a soldering iron to spot weld it onto the body.

I used lightning infill to save on filament.

Feel free to change if you are have struggles printing with lightning infill.

I printed the tractor beam in vase mode to increase clarity at the expense of rigidity.

It is pretty stable as vase mode though.

You could probably get a little better clarity on the beam by printing with transparent PETG, but i used PLA because that is what i had on hand.

I used the below puck light from Amazon.

It comes in a 4 pack so I made some other smaller ufo ornaments that i will publish on my profile as well.

I published the .STP files as well if you want to modify the design to fit a different puck light.

This also works well as a lamp and that is what i intend to use it for when the Christmas tree isn't out.
