Here's a fun little giftbox for the holidays! The Giftbox Mimic is a palm-sized box that bares its teeth when you open it. There's room inside to store small gifts and items. It features a dual-action hinge to allow the lid to swing open with a wide range of movement.

As always with my designs, this Giftbox Mimic prints without supports, assembles with snap-fit joints, and is colorful without an AMS! I hope you all enjoy this and have a happy holiday!

Assembly Guide

Add the box ribbons to all four sides

Add the hinge parts to the other hinge as well

Thank you for downloading, printing, and enjoying my designs! I really appreciate all of your support and I love seeing all of your prints!

Prints well, needs a bow on top! Lots of articulation with hinge design. might be nice to make a version that could close without having to fold lower teeth over first. And interlocking teeth!

Agreed. This is a very cool first release though!

Add a tongue will make it look more like the mimic. And please consider some kind of brim on the lid to prevent it from slide back and forth when in closing state.

Totally agree it needs the tongue to be a true mimic. But it isn't gonna stop me from making it for all my D&D group members!

Great creations and fun!! I printed them with an Alfawise U30, not super precise but it works! and I added a small knot

When we got our A1, this was one of the first prints I added to a collection. Finally got around to printing it. Assembly was confusing, only because my son somehow printed the teeth from the wrong profile. user error on our part. And I don’t know why, but I always thought this was mechanically transforming from box into ‘monster’. Didn’t realize it was manual posing. But that was our misunderstanding. Still love this. We printed in gradient green, red Silk+, and white PLA.

When I saw your question, I said to myself, “it’s just in the print profile”. So I came here to look and now it’s not. Something has changed with this model and the available profiles. It looks like some have been deleted. I notice the profiles that included the tongue are gone. Notice the legs are gone too. There are a few other pictures and reviews here with the tongue and legs, but when you click the print profile that they used, it’s a basic profile with no legs or tongue. Maybe the designer changed something. I have no idea.

@books OK, I think I figured it out. It looks like the tongue version is the transforming version here: https://makerworld.com/models/866019 That’s the one we printed. I don’t know how my review got here, but if you go to that version it has the legs and tongue and can be transformed.
