M3x8 SHCS Machine Screw (20PCS) - AA037

Description

Boost Me (for free)

Please boost if you can :)

This stacking system allows for stacking 3.5" HDDs. There is a gap left between drives for air flow.
There is also an adapter available for 2x 2.5" HDDs or SSDs.
Feets are optional, I added some self-adhesive neoprene to the bottom.

Hardware needed: M3x8 Socket Head Screws (other lenghts might work too)

A neat, quick to print, low material cost option for stacking hard drives together. Works a treat with the drives I've used it with so far, and using the drives as a way to index them together is smart. Modularity is also a benefit, as it's simple to print some more to add more drives later.

Nice feet for the drive stackers, decent base on them to allow fixing some vibration dampening pads.

Thanks! needed something which was easy, modular and simple to use within a cupboard along with open test bench (NAS). I did had a bit of trouble finding longer screws then the default ones which are used in regular cases.. i also printed some M3 screws but to use temporarily. overall happy with it.

Neat little hard drive stacker. Pictured here with 1TB drives, it doesn't index off of the HDD, so it slides around a bit. With a thicker drive like a 4tb or greater, there's no problem at all. Used M3x8 to mount and I don't think anything smaller wold work well. The part thickness is at 5.5mm (±0.1mm) where it threads and a M3x6 may not be enough to thread on.

Thanks for the feedback! I didn't even know some 3.5" drives were so thin! Do you think making a version with shorter brackets so the would keep indexing on the drive itself could be enough? Could you please share the thickness of those drives?

I used m3x10 screws for this and it worked well. I slapped some extra furniture pads on the bottom. I also glued the feet to the first drive. maybe not needed but it works.
