The Leitner Study Method (Three-Stage Approach)
The Leitner study method is a popular and effective system for spaced repetition, ideal for learning and retaining information. Here's how it works with three stages:
- Stage 1 (Box 1):
- Begin with all flashcards in Box 1.
- Review these cards daily.
- If you answer correctly, move the card to Box 2. Incorrect answers stay in Box 1.
- Stage 2 (Box 2):
- Review Box 2 cards every three days.
- Correct answers move to Box 3, while incorrect answers return to Box 1.
- Stage 3 (Box 3):
- Review Box 3 cards weekly.
- Correct answers remain in Box 3 for maintenance, while incorrect answers move back to Box 2 for more frequent review.
This three-stage holder helps you manage your flashcards efficiently, ensuring that you focus more on the cards that need extra attention while maintaining the knowledge you’ve already mastered.
