Description
The Mazda rotary engine is a type of pistonless rotary four-strokeinternal combustion engine. Since February 27, 1961, when Toyo Kogyo (nowMazda Motor Corporation) signed a contract withGermanyNSU (now one of the predecessors ofAudiautomobiles [Audi]) andFelix Wankelto obtain the authorization of theWankel engine, it has been continuously investing manpower and energy in improving and developing it, and it is calledauthorizationsincerotary engine(originally written as “ロータリーエンジン”, meaningrotary engine, but often abbreviated as “RE”).
