why would anyone read the physical books, it’s literally the worst way to consume the story

The same way books work. Yes, you get pictures of the story, but what happens exactly, the moves, etc. are on your fantasy. That's the beauty of books, even of mangas

solo leveling was drawn to be a long strip that you just scroll through. it just doesn’t look quite right in book form because it was never made for it

Hey, a little update. To your advice, I dropped the book and watched some on crunchyroll. And I must say, I got bored after few episodes, because I simply couldn't imagine all the fighting, etc. I'm in no means a book guy, I don't read much, but I never got bored of the book in this case but got bored watching it.
