Description
The Spool Dryer is designed for Kingroon spools. The purpose is to store the spools dry and at the same time increase the weight to ensure problem-free unwinding and rewinding with almost empty spools.
An M20 screw and nut are required. These are located in the center and provide the weight, serving both as a fastening element and, of course, as a desiccant.
Usage (as I do it):
- I insert the screw into the larger part.
- I fill the part with the screw with scoops from the silica bucket (up to the top edge of the inner tube; see picture). This way, I don't need a funnel and the beads are only where they should be.
- Then I insert the filled part from below into the spool.
- Then I take the smaller part, insert the nut and screw it onto the thread.
- Finally, I take the spool in my hand, fix the lower part with a finger and tighten the upper part firmly.
I printed it with PETG from Kingroon on my P1S. 0.2 mm thick, support structure: organic tree. It takes about 3 hours and about 60g of filament are needed. The screw and nut are made of stainless steel and weigh 226g. Since the print and the silica beads are added, the weight of the spool is thus increased by about 300 g in total.
