Description

Aimable Desk Cannon

Info about the model:

This is a small but powerful desk cannon. To use a projectile is loaded down the barrel, the air pusher is lifted up, then push the air pusher down quickly. This can be very fun to play with and I really recommend printing it. You may also notice that the bullets are a strange shape, however, this is for aerodynamics and so that the bullets fly straight.

For printing:

The model can be printed easily. Supports are not needed on any of the parts of this model.

The print settings that I recommend are:

  • standard 0.2mm layer height, 2 walls, and 15% infill
  • The bullets should be printed with either 4 walls, or 100% infill to ensure proper weighting so that they fly well.

To Assemble:

  1. Print out all parts.
  2. Insert air pusher onto main part.
  3. Thread the barrel into the barrel holder.
  4. Lightly click barrel assembly onto main part.

the tube in the main white bit was too big and didn't fit but I just snapped the tube out and it works 10x better

One more piece left to print at 400%, then time to find a field to test it. I made actual cannon balls without the points using a sphere in the slicer.

That is super cool. Would love to know how well it ends up working.

If I can ever get the top piece on I'll try and video the test fire. the lip inside the tube is being a pain. I put all 230lbs of me on top and it won't go on lol. I also apparently under estimated how much filament was needed for that piece, luckily it switched to another color on it's own. This pic is in front of the Ninja flip toaster oven/air fryer for size reference.

Whatever you want. I printed up some cubes that I could stack, and then I shot at them.
