Description

If you are from the Midwest in the US, you will be familiar with the fast-food chain White Castle. They serve up delicious hamburgers in slider form, so they are smaller than your typical size hamburger and you can eat a ton of them. White Castle is known as the first fast-food hamburger chain restaurant in the US. They have developed a cult following and have been a long-time favorite among hamburger and fast-food lovers.

Most White Castle's are designed to look like mini castles with white brick-like exteriors and their iconic royal blue signage and awnings. Most restaurants will have a drive-thru.

We designed our model based on our local White Castle building in the Chicagoland area. Our model set includes multiple signs, including a large road sign, windows, doors, and the exterior lights all around the roof. Our design also has two drive-thru windows and a drive-thru speaker sign. The model is not complete without some blue garbage bins.

Printing & Assembly Notes:

  • Please read the PDF Assembly Guide in the Documentation section.
  • The Body, Windows, Doors, Lights, Outer Roof, and Drive-Thru sign print with supports.
  • The Roof was separated into two parts to cut down on build time and amount of supports. The Inner Roof piece slides into the Outer Roof piece. These pieces can be glued together, although, I found that they fit nicely together and may not need glue.
  • I glued the windows and doors to the body using super glue, which works perfectly fine.
  • When gluing the signs and lights to the roof, I highly recommend using a hot glue gun since the glue cools and dries much faster than super glue. This will help since the lights are so small. I have a glue gun that sits on a stand and I can just pull the trigger while holding the small 3D printed parts.
  • Also in the Documentation section is a PDF with images for the drive-thru sign. Print the PDF out at scale and cut out the images and glue them to the drive-thru sign. I used a glue stick and the images stick just fine.

I absolutely love this model and happy with how it came out. My only change I would make is to use a matte white color. I used a new white filament that has a bit of a glossy finish and, while it still looks good, I think I prefer a more matte color. I also purchased some miniature people figures (1:75 scale) on Amazon to add to the scene along with some diecast cars. This model also looks great next to our other miniature models that are posted here on MakerWorld. Feel free to reach out with any questions and please share your photos if you build this model. Thanks and enjoy!
