Description
New version of diffusion pipe updated:Three-layer All-in-One Diffusion Pipe
Diffusion pipe made for small filters
Designed for filters using 25mm diameter PVC for the inlet pipe
Internal transition to 32mm diameter diffusion pipe, external transition to 63mm diameter diffusion pipe
This means there are 3 layers of diameter reduction (25-32-63) for flow deceleration, and 2 layers (32-63) for diffusion effect
The designed reducer fitting has an overall height of only 17mm, with each pipe inserted by only 5mm, saving a lot of space and allowing more room for the diffusion pipe in small filter boxes
Considering that cutting 63mm pipes at home can be troublesome, I directly designed a complete set of finished diffusion pipes
Length 15cm, wall thickness 2mm
32mm diffusion pipe hole diameter 9mm, 63mm diffusion pipe hole diameter 16mm
The bottoms of the two diffusion pipes have been sealed in Bambu Studio by adding parts; if you want to use your own end caps, you can delete them from the parts
If you purchase and drill your own 32mm and 63mm PVC pipes, you can print only the 25-32-63 reducer adapter (after all, purchased PVC pipes are thicker)
If you don't have a hole punch or pipe cutter at home, you can print everything (after all, drill bits are more expensive than printing costs, so there's no need to buy them specifically if you don't already have them)
Regarding support removal:
Teardrop-shaped round holes were not designed for 3D printing to maintain the appearance of commercial diffusion pipes, so tree supports will be present to support each hole, but they are very easy to remove; gently bending the entire tree to one side will remove all supports in that row
For the adapter supports, allow the model to cool completely, then use modeling pliers to pry up the support contact surface, and the entire piece will peel off, which is very satisfying (There is also a circle of support inside the 25mm pipe's insert, don't forget to remove it)
Regarding installation:
All 3 slots of the reducer interface have been enlarged by 0.1mm
If you need to insert finished PVC pipes, please ensure that the PVC pipe edges are not flared outwards due to cutting; then the PVC pipe will insert more easily and be quite secure (of course, it cannot be compared to finished PVC fittings, as the insertion depth is only 5mm)
If you need to insert the printed diffusion pipes, they might fit perfectly (which is great); or they might be a little loose, in which case you can wrap two turns of PTFE tape around the outside of the diffusion pipe for a good snug fit
Sedimentation effect:
Using 25mm PVC siphon for water intake, flowing into a 40*30 turnover box, with the water pump running at full 650 flow rate, effect after running overnight
There were no other filtration measures besides the diffusion pipe, and the water in the filter chamber was very clear, with all waste settled
Placing the water pump in the biological filter chamber should yield even better results

2024-12-24 Update: Effect after one month of official use; the diffusion pipe is now placed horizontally, and a baffle is placed to divide the turnover box into upper and lower layers, with sedimentation in the lower layer and nitrifying bacteria media in the upper layer The sedimentation effect is excellent, the bottom layer is full of dirt, it just stirred up the water when the baffle was removed
