Description

Yesterday, my daughter sent me an Instagram video showing someone's Crocs with reindeer antlers and a big red nose. Naturally, she was all over this and wanted me to make her something. There's no shortage of this sort of thing out there. I didn't love the models I was finding, and I wasn't about to pay $20 for a few grams of filament from an Etsy seller. :)

So here we are! I printed these using eSun's Pine Green PLA+ and Atomic's Silk Red PLA. That's what I had on hand, but there aren't any filament-specific settings in here. Yes, I really meant to print these with 100% infill. I totally broke the first set just trying to put them in the holes on the shoes. If you've got stronger materials in the appropriate colors, you could probably dial that down.

Yes, supports are needed. I like the convenience of the Bambu PLA support stuff, though you don't necessarily have to use it. You can use PETG for a support interface with PLA, or you can put the default settings back for the supports and go “standard”.

A bit of advice - be careful about how you install the antlers - they stick out a fair bit. Note that I did include STEP and Fusion files in case you need/want to adjust things.

update: reprinted with support filament. supports came off easily. only negative, lots of waste for a small print. Fist print: fine print. Post broke off when trying to remove the supports. not printing it again unless someone has a file to print just one horn.

Did you use the print file as-is and use the same material for the interface layer instead of support material, be that the special stuff or sub out for PETG (assuming you printed with PLA)? If so, that would certainly explain the difficult time removing supports. If you don't have any of the Support for PLA or Support for PLA/PETG stuff around, try using PETG for the support interface layer. Failing that (that is, you're using the same material you're making the main part in), go to the support tab, and reset the Top Z Distance to 0.2, Interface pattern to Concentric, top interface spacing to 0.4, and turn on independent support layer height. As far as printing just 1 antler, click one of them and split to objects, then remove the ones you don't want. Cheers!

thanks. both ended up breaking I’m new and learning. I thought the support roll Bambu sent was a waste. didn’t realize it was useful. haha. I’m using Bambu handy predominantly but need to dive into studio. thanks for the input and knowledge.

Hi there! Amazing design, I wanted to print it immediately but I can not download the files correctly for Cura. Never had this problem. Do you know what the problem could be maybe? (''no models in File'' is the error)

No clue, never used Cura. What format are you looking for?

I am looking for stl/cad files. Thank you for replying so quickly :) I was really exited when I saw this model, I own brown crocs so this would be perfect for the holidays!

Well, there is a Fusion archive there, so you’ve got CAD files you could use. Otherwise, next time I go downstairs, I’ll export the models as STL and add them to the STEP and Fusion files.

You should make the antlers as one piece, utilizing the center hole in the crocs as additional support. Or, make a third piece that can clip onto the antlers at the base and with the anchor for the the center-ish hole.

It’s an interesting thought. I did think about that for a few minutes, but it seems like it would be difficult to account for different shoe sizes. I’ll demonstrate my lack of Crocs-literacy here, but are the distance between holes constant regardless of shoe size? My guess would be no, but it also wouldn’t be the first time I was totally wrong. :) With 100% infill, which didn’t really add a ton of print time, they’re MUCH stronger. The other thing I considered was printing with the charm mounts at an angle so further increase strength (ie using a raft), but it also seemed like overkill.

I suppose the easiest solution would be a rubber band that pulls the two antlers tighter together, lol!

great model quality but the jibbit part was wayy too small to fit in to my crocs so wouldn’t stay put. would be 5 starts if it fit.

That’s surprising to hear! I’ve made 4 sets of these for my daughter and some friends, all of them fit perfectly. The actual stud component is an off-the-shelf STEP component I added on to the pieces. Very surprised to hear, sorry!
