Can-Am Spyder RT Flag Bracket – V2.0

I wanted a flag mount for my 2011 Can-Am Spyder RT. The only option I found for older models was Rivco’s version at $99. That wasn’t going to cut it—so I designed my own. This bracket installs using the same two screw holes as the Rivco bracket. No drilling or modification required—just use the existing screws.

Compatibility
Designed to fit 2010–2019 Can-Am Spyder RT models. It bolts on cleanly and securely, using existing hardware with no alterations to your ride.

What’s New in V2.0
This upgraded version includes:

  • Structural fillets added for improved strength
  • Reoriented print layout for print strength along critical stress paths
  • Optimized durability—won’t snap off at highway speeds.

Print Settings & Material Recommendations
To ensure this mount holds up long-term:

  • Best Materials:
    • PPA or PAHT - not GF, not CF… Just plain non-fiber reinforced PPA, (I use SirayaTech brand) seems to work the best.   It has the incredible strength of PPA, without the brittleness that comes from adding carbon fiber.  IT handles the repeated flexing and vibration of road use very well
    • PBT-GF - PBT maintains flexibility in cold weather conditions, while the GF lends rigidity, so this is also a promising material, I really like CC3D PBT Pro, and its only about $25/kg
    • PPA-GF or PAHT-GF are good alternatives, less brittle than CF, but still strong.
    • Siraya Tech PPA-CF Core offers the best layer adhesion, and its WAY cheaper than the Bambu PPA-CF, I haven't used it, but the wrapped core may make it less brittle.
    • Fiberon PA612-CF is a solid alternative, though slightly less rigid, and still on the brittle side.
    • Annealing of the bracket pieces according to the filament manufacturers recommendations is highly recommended for maximum strength.
  • Avoid These:
    • PLA will deform under heat, not UV resistant
    • PETG lacks stiffness.
    • PETG-CF is a maybe—it’s stiffer but may break at highway speeds.
  • Slicer Settings:
  • Uses a 0.8 mm line width (even with a 0.4 mm nozzle) to improve layer bonding
  • Keep the supplied build orientation to align strength with load-bearing paths
  • When printing PPA-CF, supports adhere strongly, Expect some sanding when removing supports from carbon-fiber-based filaments

Other Components

  • Flag Mast Sleeve: Printed in ASA or PETG (ASA offers better UV resistance). Slides over a ¼″ threaded stainless steel rod
  • Flag Clips: Use PETG or PA6—flexible enough to grip both flag and mast without cracking, PETG offers better UV resistance vs PA6, but PA6 flexes and will go on easier without cracking.
