Description

🗑️ Mini Dumpster – Functional Scale Prop (Dummy 13 / Diorama Use)

This is a fully functional, to-scale miniature dumpster, designed as a realistic prop for Dummy 13, dioramas, or miniature scenes.

 

This project represents my first fully designed 3D print, built from the ground up while learning and refining my workflow in Fusion 360. After several design iterations and hands-on testing, the final model is complete, functional, and print-ready.

📐 Design & Materials

  • Tested and printed in Bambu Lab PETG-HF (body)
  • Sunlu 95A TPU used for flexible lids and feet
  • Can also be printed entirely in PLA if preferred

PETG was selected to achieve a darker green tone and to improve durability. TPU was intentionally used for the lids and feet to add realism, flexibility, and grip.

🛠️ Hinges & Assembly

  • The lids use a filament-pin hinge system
  • A standard piece of filament is fed through the lid hinge points and the top holes of the dumpster body
  • Tolerances are designed for a smooth fit while preventing the hinge pin from backing out during use

TPU Feet

  • Recessed inserts are built into the bottom of the dumpster
  • Fit may vary depending on TPU tuning
  • Optional: add a small amount of super glue if a more permanent hold is desired

📦 Printing Notes

  • Designed with practical tolerances and real-world use in mind
  • TPU parts benefit greatly from proper calibration and slower speeds

⚙️ TPU Settings (Bambu P1S – Reference)

These settings resolved TPU issues across multiple projects and are included as a reference:

  • Calibrate Pressure Advance (PA)
  • Run Flow Calibration – Pass 2
  • Nozzle: 200 °C / 200 °C
  • Bed: 30 °C / 30 °C
  • Part Cooling Fan: Min 20% / Max 60%
  • Exhaust Fan (during print): 0%

Critical Overrides

  • Retraction Length = 1
  • Z-Hop When Retracting = 0
  • Leave all other overrides unchecked

Print Speeds

  • Keep TPU speeds very low
  • Example: 25 / 40
  • Result: clean, flexible, and well-seated lids

This mini dumpster adds a realistic, industrial touch to any miniature scene or Dummy 13 setup.
