Description

Introducing Corridor! This is inspired by the classic strategy game where players take turns either blocking each other or advancing towards the other side. I made a magnetic version do it is “couch proof” so you don't need to worry about losing your game if it gets bumped. The non-magnetic version of this game does not require any hardware if you don't print the case.

BOM:

6 disc magnets (6mmx3mm) are required: (https://a.co/d/athpvOD). These magnets end up being 2.7mm thick, which I account for in the designs. 4 are needed for the optional case and 2 are needed for the pawns if printing the magnetic version.

If printing the magnetic version of the board, you will need 91 steel discs (approx. 21.2mm dia. and 1.8mm thick). I designed the board to be primarily equation driven, so if you find a smaller diameter disc that's magnetic, send me the dimensions, and I can make a board for you. Magnets would work as a substitute for the discs, but they would be tedious and ruin the functionality of the case.

Instructions:

  1. Decide which version of the game you would like to print. The magnetic version of the game requires a pause at the start of layer 51 (using 0.2mm layer height), see photo below. When the print pauses, insert all 91 steel discs. Ensure none of them will interfere with the nozzle. Resume the print.

  2. (Magnetic Version) Glue a magnet into each of the pawns. Ensure the polarities are opposite so they attract.
  3. (Optional) Print the print-in-place case. If the hinge is slightly fused, it should break free with a little bit of force. Hold it shut with a heavy weight to make it close flat. Glue in four magnets. Ensure the polarities in both halves of the case attract so the case will be held closed.
  4. You can find the rules for the classic game online. Enjoy!
