Update - if you like this try out the new tubular version the TubeIQ!

Introducing CubeIQCubeIQ

  • CubeIQ is the new name for my original Crazy Cube toy—the first and authentic design that set the standard for this infinity fidget puzzle.CubeIQCubeIQ
  • This updated version has tighter tolerances and smoother joints for better motion and less rattling.
  • Smooth fillets now replace the old chamfers, making it more comfortable to hold.
  • Ideal for both puzzle fans and fidgeters, CubeIQ provides a hands-on way to stay focused or relax.
  • Copies - I have had some DMs about some copies of this design that have sprung up on Makerworld - check the dates on this an my first iterations - this is the original! These copies are called “Upgraded Infinity Cube”,  “Shape Snake Fidget Fun” and “Ultimate Fidget Cube Print in Place”. Would be nice if they credited us for the original, but there you go! If you see any other copies let me know as it's fun to see this design spreading.
  • Kubo - I have also had some DMs about a fidget called Kubo by Kubominds on Kickstarter - this has nothing to do with me and you will notice the date on my original design is from well before that Kickstarter went live. They have been very successful in selling the model though so if you would like a commercial licence for my original and first design please checkout my Patreon

Challenge yourself to explore the different shapes CubeIQ can form and see if you can get it back to its original shape. Whether moving from cube to snake or finding new forms, CubeIQ keeps you engaged.

Now available Display stand for CubeIQ

Printing Instructions:

  • Use the built-in profile for the best results. (if you want the stl export them from the 3mf)
  • Available in small, standard, and larger sizes.
  • The smallest size has slightly bigger hinges to make printing easier.
  • A standard-sized version with bigger hinges is also available for printers that struggle with the standard design; this isn’t needed for Bambu printers.
  • Choose between single-color and two-color options.
  • Gently work the joints a few times after printing to loosen them up.

How is that filament holding up? I've found the rainbow filaments I have tried to have the worst layer adhesion - so looking for something stronger!

Seems to be OK. My printer is in the Garage (COLD), so the bed temperature is set to 65, rather than 55 degrees. Mine is a Bambu P1S. I gave it to a young Ukrainian girl for Christmas and she is using it, no problems... yet.

I made the smallest size - bigger hinges- dual colour version. It works really well direct out of the print.

I've now printed a couple different sizes in copper PLA, one medium in sakura pink and then this small gold & copper wood grain one by combining with a slightly altered modifier object from https://makerworld.com/en/models/868884-add-wood-grain-effects-to-your-models-using-a-smal

Had to check since it's been a while, but this is the smallest size and around 9-10 hours depending on the filaments, at least with my settings. I apparently also had another one already set up ready to print with sakura pink and matte white for a candy effect.

Thanks for linking the wood grain modifier, I showed that to my other 3D printing friends and we're all excited to try it out!

Printed with increased infill to 100% to give it some weight, using 0.16mm HQ layer height preset, and using Eryone PLA silk rainbow/candy colour filament. Looks great, and the added weight for an extra 30g or so of filament really helps it too. No problems at all!
