Description

Congratulations on finally discovering FunOrNothing :)

New Version Link(Assemble Type, more bristles, no comb)

____________________

A while ago, after designing a foldable hairbrush model, I thought it would be better if I added a comb function.

(My previous design link)

Compared to a design with only a hairbrush function, I increased the thickness by 2mm to add a comb function. I wanted to make it thinner, but the results of several tests showed that if it was thinner, the comb would bend and it would be difficult to use properly. However, on the other hand, the grip was improved.

The comb can be used by simply sliding it, and it is designed so that it doesn't fall out completely to prevent loss.

This model is also made of two printed parts: the body part that includes the brush and the handle part that includes the comb, and assembly is also simple.

After printing the brush part, press both ends to unfold it. (You need to press a little hard at first.)

For the handle part that includes the comb, if it's difficult to slide after printing, twist it a little and then hit it on the desk with the protruding comb part facing down.

Now, assemble the two parts as shown in the picture and you're done.

IMPORTANT!

If the seam does not stand up after printing, lower the flow rate and print slowly. The tolerance of this model is 0.2mm, so in most cases it will print well, but the hinge size is very small, so depending on the printing environment such as the type of filament, the hinge may stick due to excessive flow.

01/09/2026 Model Update

The model has been modified to ensure that the comb stays in place when folded.

Absolutely brilliant. I was specifically looking for this, and it is better than I could have dreamed. Also found a paper mirror strip in dashing diva nail stickers fits perfectly (but be careful of warping).

This looks really cool but I couldn't get the bristles to pop up to expand the brush - looks like the first few layers fused the parts together - I'm not seeing those spaces between the bristles. I took a knife and cut around the bristles, but it still didn't help. Any tips on how to get more spacing between the bristles? I'm using the default .4mm nozzle. Should I use a smaller nozzle? I guess I can scale this up as well.

0.4mm nozzle is fine. Check each bristles separated. I printed it several times and never failed.

Maybe it's the plate. I'm using the pei textured gold plate maybe that's why the small gaps are being sealed? What plate do you print on?

I also use the same plate. Plate can't be an issue if your first layer is fine.

pretty solid print, it was kinda hard to unstick the comb from itself, but that was very small issue

Ingenious design. I may try printing in PETG to see if the Brush is any softer. But works great for surprise video calls. It was a bit hard getting the Brush part to separate until I squeezed it exactly as shown in the GIF.

printed ok but brush bristles are wonky some are too tight some are too loose, the comb also is hard to get out but after getting it out it becomes too loose

PLA is durable enough in my experience.

This is a great design. The mechamism works flawlessly. The brush was very hard to open the first time, but now I don’t have any problems to open it. The bristles are quite hard and it isn’t that comfortable to use, so this isn’t something I will use daily. It is great for an emergency through.
