About
Do we really need another remix of the moon lamp?
Yes!
To my suprise I noticed, that there is no remix of the moon lamp featuring a mount for the highly popular A1 chrristmas stars.
Therefore I quickly started up blender and edited the linked Thingiverse model to accomodate the A1 fixture.
So now my christmas stars are accompanied by a beautiful moon litophane.
Printing
The print takes a very long time (~22h on my A1) and needs support due to the round shape of the moon.
The included profile already has optimal support settings.
When printing the supports look severely underextruded, but this is intentional to allow for easier removal.
The upper side of the moon (printed facing towards the buildplate) is always a bit rough due to the overhangs.
I though these artifacts matter less on the top part of the moon, as you are usually viewing it from below.
If you want to hang the lamp lower, consider rotating the moon before printing.
Also, you can sand it off for it to be smoother.
Additional
If you want to reslice the -blend file make sure to repair the model in your slicer.
