Description

A couple years ago when I started playing Gloomhaven with a group of friends I needed a solid way to store all the 3D printed miniatures. Even though there were many different systems for bases/standees and miniatures around, I decided to create something myself.

As we've recently purchased Frosthaven and are gearing up to start playing it, I printed even more and thought I'd share them with the world.

It's a system using simple square trays and bases using magnets to make it easy to store, and attach standee markers to the bases.

The 25 mm bases have numbers on them, ranging from 1 to 10 and an unnumbered one for bosses. The bases have a slot underneath for small 10x1 mm magnets. The legends on the sides are very small and therefor I printed them in resin, you can always print the unnumbered base in FDM and paint the number on.

Each tray holds 32 miniatures and each slot on the tray has a space for either 10x1 mm magnets, or 10x1 mm metal discs (metal discs are a heck of a lot cheaper than magnets). I used D10x1mm N35 Round Neodymium magnets in the bases and D10x1mm round metal discs in the storage trays and standee markers.

The trays are stackable allowing you to easily store and transport all your minis. The trays are compatible with the storage boxes I made for Gloomhaven and Frosthaven terrain.

To house all the miniatures for Gloomhaven 7 trays are needed and for Frosthaven you need another 6 trays.

The standee markers have the same slot for a metal disc or magnet and in Gloomhaven these are used to signify regular (white) or elite (gold) enemies (and in Frosthaven also summons [blue] and bosses [red]).

For each tray you will need:

Great model, I slightly adapted it to my magnet size and to use hidden magnets (using a pause layer) to avoid them coming out, which I prefer to using glue. Came out great with a 0.6 nozzle. I only wish the stacking mechanism would somehow lock the parts with each other. Mine actually kind of do that, though probably only because of warping 🤣. Thanks a lot for your work! Works perfect with the 25mm bases I've been using, and only one accidentally giant spitting drake doesn't fit when stacked 🫣

Looks great! Feel free to upload your print profile for the different magnet sizes, the more diversity, the better. As for the stacking, yeah, the first couple of plates I printed on my non-Bambu printer locked into place quite well, which had more to do with that printer not being as accurate as my Bambu the more plates I printed...

Thanks! I would love to provide my 8x2mm embedded magnet profile, only I've actually never uploaded a print profile before and don't exactly know what I am doing. Do you know if pauses on specific layers will also be included? I also am probably gonna do another 0.4 nozzle test. The 0.6 print is completely fine for me but admittedly the top layers and some corners came out just a lil suboptimal.

If you upload the 3mf file it *should* contain all the details that you set in the slicer, so all the machine details, print speeds, support settings, filament colors/types and I think it also supports the pauses. Be sure to include it in the description at what layer/height the pause should happen so that if it doesn't transfer over, at least people can set it themselves.

Easy print, fantastic design. Will be printing more! Woule love a tray that is flat with sunk magnets to hold monsters/terrain/etc with varied mm bases.

This makes me really want to print it, but before the storage tray, I would like to find figurine models for Gloomhaven monsters, but it's a struggle. Would you have any links to give me, as yours look very good. Thank you for your help

I've used a lot of models from VirtuallyJason and Robagon3D, they don't seem to publish models on MakerWorld, but they are active on most of the other platforms. There is also this Google Sheets document, which aims to collect a lot of proxies for the Gloomhaven monsters and terrain: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_tKrd-Yiwu26YJ-85kV6ZKr6QLRrzHeUG5d6o1W4UkM/edit?usp=sharing

Would you be able to do a Version with higher pillars and 50mm base Sockets for largee creatures? All my medium minis now have a great place to rest, however, the larger ones still wander around aimlessly

Only commenting again because reboosting apparently requires it - Great way to store (Gloomhaven) Minis! I am thinking of making a compatible insert for stacking multiple smaller models in one of these, though of course I could just shorten the pillars for that as well.

Any chance you could make this maximize the space of a kallax shelf? (33.5cm)

I could try once I have a bit more free time on my hands. It's more that this size (just barely) fits on an A1 mini bed and comfortably on the medium size beds. I don't have any printers that have a large bed like the XL (360x3560) or the Creality K2 (350x350) so I could not test it, or it would have to printed in multiple parts (probably weakening integrity of the trays).
