Description

Manual Blend Door Control Lever for Ford Ranger

Designed by Carlan Wray

DISCLAIMER

This is an aftermarket replacement part designed by a third party. It is not manufactured, endorsed, or approved by Ford Motor Company. Use at your own discretion.

Description

This 3D-printed manual control lever is designed to replace the electronic blend door actuator in Ford Rangers equipped with electronic climate control systems. Originally designed for a 2008 base model, this solution provides manual control when the electronic actuator fails.

Installation Instructions

1. Remove the original electronic actuator using an 8mm socket with a 1/4" ratchet
2. Insert the adapter piece into the blend door access hole
3. Attach the control lever to the top of the adapter

Fitment Notes

- The adapter is designed with a rectangular profile and can be inserted in two orientations
- For optimal fit:
* Try the initial orientation first
* If too loose, rotate the adapter 180° so the flat side contacts the rounded edge
* This alternate orientation typically provides a snugger fit

Usage Tips

1. Begin with the lever positioned as shown in the reference pictures
2. Test movement in both directions to determine your blend door's current position
3. Once you've identified the optimal position, adjust the lever for easy access from the operator's position, as the initial position may place the lever in a difficult-to-reach location
4. Temperature Control:
* Lever turned toward operator = Hot
* Lever turned away from operator = Cold

Print Settings

ABS or ASA are likely the best readily available materials but PETG might work if you don't have an enclosure. PLA is probably out because of the high temperatures in the climate control system. 0.2 mm layer height is probably the strongest as the loading is radial along the layer lines which are weakest. I would use a strong profile or 6 walls and a high infill rate.

- Material: ASA, ABS, PETG
- Layer Height: 0.2 mm
- Nozzle Size: 0.4 mm, 0.6 mm
- Speed: As recommended by manufacturer
