Cineback Power Bank + Active Cooling for Sony ZV-1
Print Profile(1)

Bill of Materials
Description
This is a cineback add-on for the Sony ZV-1, designed for longer, smoother handheld shooting and extended recording sessions.
It adds mass for more stable, film-like movement, houses a large power bank for multi-hour recording, and includes a big, quiet Noctua fan for active cooling. With this setup, overheating has not been an issue for me, even during long 4K recordings.
⚠️ Important: This is a working prototype.
This design was developed to a “good enough for real use” level, not to a fully polished, consumer-ready finish. It is robust, functional, and proven in real shooting conditions, but expect some DIY aspects.
Examples of prototype compromises:
- The model includes cable channels for a dummy battery. I originally planned to use one, but power delivery was unstable with the Dummy battery. In practice, using the standard ZV-1 battery and powering the camera via its USB port from the Power bank works reliably. The dummy battery channels remain unused.
- Some parts require zip-ties or glue (top handle, tripod mount). This was intentional due to time constraints before a real shoot.
- The microphone mount on the top handle is tight by design and may require gentle heat (heat gun) to fit certain microphones.
Despite this, the setup is stable, solid, and field-tested. I use it regularly as a second camera for weddings, where reliability matters more than visual perfection.
Printing notes
- Stick to the provided print profile if you can.
- PETG recommended
- The provided print profile includes a Print Pause at 0 h 52 min. of the first plate. When this happens, you have to insert the nuts to the Power bank clamp piece and continue the print.
Power setup
- Dummy battery supported in theory, but USB power from the Power Bank to the camera is recommended
- This design is sized for the listed power bank only; other models are untested
