Realistic M84 Flashbang Grenade
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is an ultra-realistic model of an M84 “flashbang” stun grenade with M201A1 fuze. These flashbang grenades are used by most western militaries and many police forces as a non-lethal or less-lethal breaching tool to generate (as the name implies) a loud bang and bright flash to temporarily stun enemies, instead of using deadly fragmentation or dangerous and slow-acting riot control grenades.
While I don't currently have access to live flashbangs, I modelled this using a really good dummy combined with an actual expended M201A1 fuze. Therefore, the grenade body can be installed with an actual fuze (mixing live munitions with 3D prints is not a great idea). The fuze is the same one used in the M18 smoke grenade, and the spoon differs only in the inwards bend of the flat bottom surface.
The M84 features an additional safety pin compared to the M18 smoke grenade. It has a triangular ring, and is fitted to the upper center of the fuze assembly. This pin does not pass through the spoon. It is designed to pass through the fuze and prevent the striker from hitting the primer unless it is removed prior to the spoon being released.
Please note that this model could easily be mistaken for a real munition. Please be safe and be kind.
The actual grenade is OD green with a light green stripe around the center. The flash charge is either copper or silver/grey, depending on which pictures you believe. The top and bottom hex should be lined up when assembled, this is a safety feature to prevent the grenade from rolling when thrown. The fuze should be aligned so the spoon is parallel to a flat surface on the hex. All the threads are an extremely tight fit when assembled, but printing with 3 walls provides enough strength for assembly. I would not recommend assembling and disassembling this model multiple times.
While the grenade body on this is relatively strong, I designed it to sit on a shelf and look pretty. Several parts are extremely fragile, specifically the spoon and pin assemblies. If you throw it, be prepared to reprint those parts often.
If you like this or any of my other models, I would greatly appreciate a like or a boost. I'm definitely working on some more ammo and grenade models, and y'all's constant support really motivates me to spend my weekends glued to SolidWorks for hours at a time perfecting them. Someone I work with asked me today if he could buy a model smoke grenade from me, and it felt pretty good to tell him “absolutely not, just download it for free”. Anyways, enjoy!
