Description

Why did the Chicken cross the road? To win the game obviously.

Are you Chicken? is a brand new board game where players race to be the first Chicken to make it across a busy four lane highway alive.

GAMEPLAY:

  • 2-5 Players
  • The player with the best Chicken dance goes first.
  • One at at time players roll a die and move the corresponding number of spaces.
  • Players can move in any direction.
  • If your health meter runs out, and your light shuts off, you must re-spawn at the starting line.
  • The first Chicken to cross the road wins.
  • Have fun.

Each game piece has a different coloured Single LED Magnetic Control Switch Light located in the base that represents that piece's health meter. The faster your light is flashing, the more health you have. While a Chicken's natural resistance to high speed impact may help, it doesn't make them invincible. If you get hit by three cars before making it to the other side, your health meter will run out, your light will go out and you will have to re-spawn back at the start line.

When putting the LED in the base, make sure the LED is facing down as seen above. After putting the game piece on the base, twist the base to lock it in place.

The cars are represented by magnets that are inserted into panels that slide in and out of the back of the board. Before every game, you can take the panels out, place them face down on the table and shuffle them around before putting them back in without looking at the magnet positioning. This ensures that every game will be different.

As soon as a player places their game piece at the starting line, their health meter will fill up. While you may not be able to see the cars as you progress across the board, you will definitely feel it when you get hit. In the following video, you can see a demonstration of how the health meter of a game piece is affected when it gets hit by a “car”.

Make sure you order the right magnets… I selected 4x2 but was sent 3x1, which does not work 😅

Great print! One question please, Do you have an example for the magnet layouts?

Thanks! I'm happy you like it. When it comes to magnet layout, each panel has four rows of four holes. I used two magnets in each row for a total of eight magnets per panel, as seen in the picture. I would consider that to be "Normal" difficulty. For "Hard" difficulty, I would use ten magnets per panel and for "Easy", I would use six magnets per panel.

does this layout work for you? I do only see one valid path in your config and then the plates have also to be in right order... so by chance you have 1:11 Chance you placed the plates right and then even slighter chance you placed in right direction/heading. Just trying to figure out a "good" approach to design the magnet config and wanted to use your config as template.

Fun idea! is the 5-player limitation only based on the maker's components available?

Yeah, there are only five colors of LED available so that's all I could make. There is technically room for eight players to start.

Such a game would deserve a transport box to play it everywhere! I also hope that Bambulab will release other colors for the leds.
