Description
Turntable - A Game of Inertia and Strategy
Game Overview: "Turntable" is an innovative inertia-based board game that challenges players to use both strategy and timing to keep their discs on the board as long as possible while getting rid of their opponent’s discs. The game combines careful planning, quick decision-making, and a bit of unpredictability as the board spins and shifts.
Objective: The goal is to maintain as many of your discs as possible on the board while forcing your opponent’s discs off. Use the mechanics of the rotating board, clever fence placement, and precise timing to dominate the board.
How to Play: At the start of the game, players take turns choosing one of three possible actions:
- Place a Disc: Place one of your discs in the top hole of the twisted tower. The disc will randomly exit from one of the three sides of the tower. Predicting where the disc will come out is challenging, making early fence placement strategic.
- Place a Fence: Place a fence anywhere on the board. Fences are crucial because they help to protect your discs or force your opponent’s discs into vulnerable positions.
- Spin the Board: Take one of the twisted cilinders from the base of the tower to initiate a spin. This will cause the entire board to rotate, creating unpredictable movement of any discs that aren’t adequately protected by fences. Be careful when taking a cilinder. this will cause the board to lift up slightly. MINIMISE THIS MOVEMENT.
Gameplay Tips:
- Early Fence Placement: At the start, it's wise to focus on placing fences on the board. Without fences, the discs you place will be highly vulnerable when the board spins.
- Disc Placement Strategy: The twisted tower makes it challenging to predict which side a disc will come out of, adding an element of surprise and risk to each placement. Be prepared for unexpected outcomes and place fences to limit the risk.
Scoring: At the end of every round—after both you and your opponent have taken one action—count how many of your discs are still on the board. The player with the most discs remaining wins the round.
Ending: The game ends when all the twisted cilinders are removed from the tower.
Game Components:
- Twisted Tower: The central column where discs are inserted. This makes disc placing random.
- Spinning Base: The round base holds all discs and fences. The base balances on a similar type board wich makes it easy to spin.
- Fences: These are used to block discs and create barriers that either protect your discs or force your opponent’s discs into vulnerable areas.
- Twisted cilinders: These control the spinning of the board, adding an element of inertia and momentum to the game.
