Summary

This is a 1:24 scale model of the US Navy's impressive SM-3 Block IIA missile that is designed to take out incoming ballistic missiles. If an enemy fires a ballistic missile at at a US Navy or other friendly vessel (carrier, destroyer, cruiser, etc) then an Arleigh-Burke Class Destroyer or a Ticonderoga Class Cruiser will launch an SM-3 missile very high up in the atmosphere (or technically beyond it into “space”) in order to intercept the incoming missile. The model shows both the second stage missile as well as the first stage booster.

I plan to release the other SM standard series missiles in the coming weeks, such as the SM-2, SM-6, and ESSM, so stayed tuned for that. All of them will be to scale with each other (which amusingly makes the ESSM a little on the small side, but its realistic :-)

This model easily snaps together for easy assembly – no glue is required.

Bambu labs filaments used were:

  • Basic Light Gray
  • Basic Dark Gray
  • Metal Iron Black
  • Silk Silver

If there's other missiles you're interested to see, let me know in the comments.

Boost Me (for free)

If you enjoy my work and would like to help support my ability to share more (and even better) models in the future, please consider boosting or buying me a coffee at the link below.   Your support is what helps me have enough filament and supplies to do all the print testing required for my models to be high quality and easy to assemble.  It takes a mountain of test prints for each model. Thanks :-)

Here's a link to my Buy Me a Coffee page, thanks for the support!
