Boost Me (for free)

These models can be a lot of work, so please consider giving a boost to help further the development of models like this, and many more! Also, don't forget to follow me for more work like this too!

[Introduction]

I was looking on Amazon for a media shelf/bookcase for all my blu-rays and video games. There was a review on one particular item that spurred me into action. The reviewer mentioned about how cheap the product was, but that it'd get him by until he could build something better. Hmm, build something better.

So instead of getting a cheap media shelf of questionable quality off of Amazon I decided why not, why not just make it myself! And thus, this project was born. A modular media shelving system. I wanted a system that was stylish and that I could expand upon as I collected more media. I wanted to have the option to be able to easily secure it against the wall. I planned to use it in a bookcase configuration, but I also liked the idea that it could be used as a standalone shelf too, built up to make more interesting shelving systems for.

There's two sizes, a Regular and a Half wide. The spacing is such that the shelves can be staggered; just be aware that the X is differently sized then the Y, so they can't be rotated as such and still have everything align.

There's little connectors to connect everything together, and uses Bambu's m3x8mm self tapping screws to secure everything. I've included a tool to help keep things held tight while you screw it together.

[Printing Info]

It should be an easy print, but it can be prone to warping. This can be alleviated by turning off the Aux fan while printing. Additionally, I try and not let my print room get too cold, so overall the tempratures inside the chamber are more stable.

  • M3x8mm Self Tapping Screws. (I recommend Bambu's M3x8mm self tapping screws in this case, as their lower head height works well with this application. Something like this Self Tapping screw from Amazon should work well too)

[Assembly]

Connect the shelves together using the connectors and a m3x8mm self tapping screw. The 3d printed tool can be used to help keep things held tight while screwing.
