Description
Fruit Fly Trap (drosophila)
A fruit fly trap (drosophila) in the shape of an apple can be easily opened and closed by separating it into two halves connected by a screw thread. The interior of the trap allows for placing bait that attracts fruit flies and other similar flies. Once lured in, the flies enter the trap through a small opening and are unable to escape.
Recommended baits:
- Apple cider vinegar: A small amount of apple cider vinegar quickly attracts fruit flies due to its scent. You can also add a drop of dish soap to reduce surface tension, which causes the flies to sink.
- Ripe fruit: A piece of overripe fruit, such as a banana or an apple slice, makes an excellent natural bait. The riper the fruit, the more it will attract flies.
- Sugar solution with a bit of vinegar: Mix a little water, sugar, and apple cider vinegar in a small cup to create a sweet-and-sour bait.
This trap is reusable and can be easily emptied and cleaned after each use, so you can refresh it regularly with fresh bait.
