Since I have access to a CNC at our local fablab (http://fablab.warrington.ac.uk/), I'm making my own MFT top for the garage.

 

Benchdog Sizing

 

The Benchdogs are modelled with 18mm long bottom shafts, (1.5mm Deep, 1.5mm wide middle ring) and various height upper shafts, rounded with upper and lower chamfers. Bottom faces have a negative dimple to make identifying the bottom easier on smaller dogs.

 

A dog that can be used to mount a fence is also provided and can be used with a screw or suitable sized bolt to attach to a wooden or aluminium fence.

 

Specific heights provided are 10mm, 20mm, 30mm, 40mm, 50mm and the fence mount is approx 45mm above the table when installed.

 

MFT Variation

These benchdogs are modelled with 19.98 diameter shafts. I've bought real dogs to check the fit of my MFT holes and realised that there are wide variation in the MFT world.

 

Benchdogs.co.uk aim for 19.96/98. UJK Dogs I just bought I measured at 19.93/94 and are too loose in my test holes. So combined with Printing Gotchas … you'll have to do some scaling to suit your needs. Also note, layer lines increase friction, which you may want to use to your advantage.

 

Printing Gotchas

These have been modelled with no tolerances included. Trying to get accurate parts for everyone is impossible as printer tolerances vary, filament shrinkage depends on material and brand and must be allowed for. For best results, print, measure, calculate scaling ratio and adjust either overall scale or XY Compensation settings etc to suit your desired dimensions. please don't complain that they are too loose or too tight.
