I'm trying to create a coaster for every active and legendary player.
Andrei Markov - Defenseman (No. 79)
Andrei Markov, born December 20, 1978 in Voskresensk, Russia, is a former defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens. Drafted by the club in 1998 (6th round, 162nd overall), he made his NHL debut in 2000.
Markov was known for his vision of the game, his ability to control the pace and his effectiveness on the power play. He was a pillar of the Canadiens defense for over 16 seasons, contributing to the team with his intelligent play and offensive skills.
During his career, Markov was selected for the All-Star Game and played a key role in the playoffs, notably in 2010 when the Canadiens reached the Eastern Conference Finals.
He left the Canadiens in 2017 to play briefly in the KHL before returning to Montreal for a final season in 2018. Markov is appreciated by fans for his dedication and performances within the team, and he remains one of the most respected defenders in Canadiens history.
