The GMH Emergency Compass Whistle

This is the 'GET ME HOME!" Emergency Whistle which packs a couple features to help you get home/rescued.

Features:

• Whistle (I do not know the DB rating)
• Compass (using a 6x2mm neodymium magnet)
• ¼" Bit Holder (also functions as a lanyard hole)
• SOS morse code on the bottom for situations where you cannot use the whistle
• Tool to find magnetic north for your magnet.

Instructions:

For this project, you will need the following:

• 6x2mm Neodymium magnet
• Compass (or a compass app on your smartphone)
• glass of water
• The magnetic north tool (in the print profile)

Lower the 6x2mm magnet in the holder on the magnetic north tool and gently lower it into the glass of water. If the tool keeps floating to the side of the cup, gently rotate the cup clockwise/counter-clockwise a few times to center it. Take note of the north/south orientation and verify that it matches what you see on your compass (or compass app); flip the magnet if the poles are backwards. I leave the magnet in the tool with north facing me until I am ready to insert it into the whistle but you could also just mark it with a sharpie.

Print the whistle. It has a pause set at layer 40 so you can insert the magnet. Note that you should have the north pole of the magnet facing you when you insert it into the whistle. Resume the print and you'll be all set in 15mins!
