Description

print-in-place fidget toy, soothing motion

comes in 2 sizes

to improve the motion and to free the parts more easily in the beginning, I applied some pure silicon oil with a viscosity of 200cSt on the gaps, helps a lot. Also reduces the noise when moving. I recommend using needle bottles for application to prevent the oil being all over the fidget. I have used these.

also ensure good part cooling and ventilation so the layers cool down quickly.

I recommend using a open printer or opened lid + open door if your printer is enclosed.

Check out my lid lifter, which I've designed for this very purpose ^_^

If you are into fidgets, also check out my other creation https://makerworld.com/de/models/700410#profileId-767992

Printed 6 on a single job. The print quality was perfect however I think the tolerances may have been a smidge tight as two weeks later after lots of abuse by my testing ninjas (twin 8 year old boys), they still do not move “freely”. Might be fixable with some dry lubrication (PTFE spray or similar) but thought I’d mention it. Chris

Nice that this is exactly where your mind went. We are meant to be a community and this was not very friendly! You are factually incorrect as firstly I only printed 6 and not 8 as you stated (screen pic taken in case you decide to edit 😁) and think you should maybe just keep your incorrect posts to yourself! I printed one of each of my twin 8 year old boys and my wife as they like to fiddle and play with things. Two of my work colleagues that are ALWAYS on phone calls received one as having something to play with whilst doing so is always good. That leaves one remaining unit and that final one is for me. I have both mental health issues along with ADHD and 3D printing is both a hobby and a way to control this side of my mental health. I appreciate there may be others that do this but I do not so would appreciate you keeping your incorrect “opinions” to yourself. Chris

The only way to know if the other one has a problem with that is by asking the questions and then telling them to do something about that problem that is the same as what I have been told by my doctor to tell them that I have a bad day so they don’t want me there so they don’t have any problems or problems and they can tell you if you want me there I

Printed really well in Anycubic PLA silk (tricolor), PETG was a lot harder to free the joints (but not impossible). I changed the top pattern to be hilbert curve because I think it looks cool lol. This is an excellent fidget, definitely one of my favorites I've printed so far. For anyone not super satisfied at first, it really does need lubrication to be as fidget-friendly as possible.

glad you like it 😊 can't stress enough that you need to apply lubricant. The internal geometry of the hinges is by design sticking together when printing. That's the only way to make it a print-in-place!

Turned out great and am pleased with how it feels in my hand. It was snug at first and with a little bit of play it loosened up. after that I did end up using a little bit of oil as suggested and it helped immensely. Thank you for the model. :)
