Description

PACHISI (PARCHEESI) - The national game of India, dates back to 4 AD and remains popular today. Each player has a set of 4 pawns. The goal is to move the pawns around the board to the finish section. Movement is controlled by dice. All players move around the same board, so they may capture each other’s pawns. Captured pawns are returned to their player's start and must continue their journey over. The winner is the first player to move all pawns to finish.

Information

All parts were printed with PLA filament. I use a textured plate for adhesion. Some parts will need to be superglued, for example, the book spines are glued to the square cornered side of the bookcase box.

Countless hours have gone into the collection and I hope to continue to expand the collection based on continued interest. Some of the games are long and large prints. Special thanks to Peter Varadi for the inital work on the game board.

Rules of Pachisi

Game Setup

Each player has 4 game pieces of he same color. Pieces start from their “Home” area (marked with house symbol).

The first player who moves all of his pieces to the finish “Star” tiles wins the game.
Players take turns in clockwise order. Each turn, 6 dice are thrown, refer to the movement chart.

Game Play

The first piece for each player can leave the “Home” area using any step number. Going further, the player can only move pieces from the “Home” area by throwing the dice combination that show the “Home” symbol on the movement chart. Pieces start their track on the tile marked with an arrow.

Pieces move around the track given by the step number shown in the movement chart.

Multiple pieces of the same color can occupy the same space.
If no piece can legally move according to the number thrown, play passes to the next player.
Capturing
If a piece lands on a piece of a different color that is not on a safe space (grey shield), the piece jumped upon is captured and returned to its “Home” area.
Barriers
Barriers are made by stacking two pieces of the same color.
A barrier cannot be landed on or passed by any piece, even of the same color.
Barriers should be opened when they cannot legally move any other of their pieces.
Safe Spaces
Safe spaces are grey and marked with a shield sign. Captures are not possible in safe spaces.
When advancing to an occupied safe space, the other player's game piece stays and is not moved to their “Home”.
No more than two pieces may occupy the same safe space. The move is not possible if the advance has to finish in a safe space occupied by two pieces.
Throwing a Six Step
A throw of 6 steps gives another turn unless it is the 3rd six step in a row.
If 3 six steps are rolled in a row, on the third six step, instead of a normal move, the piece moved on the previous throw of six steps is immediately returned to the home area – unless it was on the finish track in which case it is safe and is not returned.
Winning

When a piece has circumnavigated the board, it proceeds up the finish column. A piece can only be moved onto the finish “Star” area by an exact throw. As soon as a piece reaches the finish area it doesn't matter which finish “Star” tile it's placed on. The finish area is considered one unit. Each finish column is only open for pieces of the same color.

The first person to move all 4 pieces into the finish area wins.

I love the idea of the NFC tags, I was not familiar with them until now. Did you use the BoardGameGeek website link or something else.

Replying to @Ritz :
I keep a copy of the rules as a pdf on a new google drive specifically for game rules and link the nfc tags to them! I sometimes would edit the rules too, such as adding images of the printed Catan Game Board in the Catan Rules as it is not as easily identifiable from the original when you are new to the game.

PACHISI BOARD GAME - Bookcase Edition
Came out pretty good. My only issue was the connecting circle for the boards would only fit on three of four boards. I spent some time sanding it down to fit.

Hi! I love your work! I just wanted to ask you, is it normal for the lid to not be aligned? It appears to me that it has overhangs

1. Overhang error on lid has been corrected for all printers. 2. Plate slicing error for P1S/X1/P1P has been corrected where objects appeared out of the printed area.

Love this series of Bookcase games and will be printing more for sure. What are the home icons meaning on the dice movement cards?

Pachisi boards can differ in style and appearance. In this layout, the "Home" symbol represents the starting point (Home) for your 4 game pieces. You must role one of the matching rolls shown on the movement card with the "Home" symbol in order for any game piece to move out of the Home area to the start "Arrow". This begins your game piece's movement around the board to the finish "Star" location.

After Quoridor this is my second game book It's really well thought out For me the lid is a bit too small and doesn't hold well I encountered problems coloring the parts if the part moves the slicer detects empty walls but by being careful I managed to apply my colors without moving the model on the plate in Bambu Studio I'm having trouble finding the game rules corresponding to this model parcheesi ludo etc it looks similar but not completely Kudos to the creator in any case

Pachisi is the original game from India. It was americanized and called Parcheesi, same game esentially. Ludo is also a spin off as well. You can apply any of those rules. Post some pics when you have the game complete as I would love to see your work.
