Description
The White House, also known as the Executive Residence, is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., United States. Construction began on October 13, 1792, and it serves as the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States and the First Family, as well as one of the national symbols of the United States. The White House is a white Neoclassical sandstone building, primarily composed of the main building and the east and west wings. The east wing houses the state dining rooms, and the west wing houses the executive offices and the Oval Office. The main building has three visible floors, but actually six, with 132 rooms in total. It occupies a total area of 7.3 hectares, serving as one of the central hubs of the United States of America.
