Description

Thanks to a comment from user @dancescu_emilia who suggested to subtract the based from the star instead of the star from the base! this is a brilliant idea that just did not cross my mind when designing the original Star Trophy. The result is a very simple to print trophy, no support, easy to scale, no glue required as both pieces tight fit together. I present you the new SuperStar Trophy!!

Wow! Where can we find this add-ons that you have? The base?, the text plates?, the plates on the star? Looks great!

Once I figured out how to change the text it was a breeze. Love the idea and how it slides into the trophy.

I added text to the face of the trophy facing down. I am failing a bit to print it properly with the text, but that's a different problem. The issue I am facing now, if that if print laying down it will take about 3-4h to print. standing up is about 13h and the text quality is awful. but the top part (the back of the tropy) ends up with these markings (see picture) any ideas on how to prevent this? and get a smooth finish.

Hi - so adding text directly on the trophy is tricky, most people will create a basic flat plaque that they glue on and it's on that separate plaque that they add text. Your idea of laying it flat is pretty smart but those marking you refer to are unavoidable as they are like 'the steps of a hill on a topographic map" you could reduce the size of the step by reducing the layer height but that will drastically increase printing time -- but for fun try on your slicer to set layer to .16, .12, etc... look at the difference in steps vs print time!

sadly this is limitation of 3D printing - it's like a topographic map, a slow slope wiil have much bigger steps than a steep cliff. What other people have done is print the names on a flat square plaque and then glue that to the trophy base. You could use the Makerlab Sign Maker to make your plaque.

I really loved this model, thank you so much for sharing! I created a small base to add a label and also uploaded a print profile. It turned out to be a beautiful plaque for a local association, and I’m very grateful for such a great design.
