Description

Introducing Magnet Hockey, a new take on table hockey that combines the fast-paced action of air hockey with the strategic maneuvering of magnets! This game brings the excitement of hockey right to your tabletop, offering a unique playing experience for two players. Bring your family and friends over to play, and this game will become a classic in no time. We designed this to be printed in the new PETG-HF, but it can also be printed in PLA as well. We recommend using a smooth PEI plate for reduced friction.
Game Overview
In Magnet Hockey, players control their game pieces using magnetic sticks held beneath the game board. The objective is to score goals by maneuvering a plastic ball into your opponent's goal. This is just like the classic air hockey experience, but we have optimized it for 3D printing. The first to score 5 goals wins the game. Who will you challenge first?

How to Play
The gameplay is similar to air hockey. Players use their magnetic sticks to control their strikers and hit the ball into the opponent's goal. The first player to score 5 points wins the game. If a player hits the ball out of the game arena, they lose a point. Keep the action fast and exciting!
To make the game fairer, consider having a rule that you cannot have your striker or guard inside the goalie area.
Printed Components
- 1 - Magnet hockey game board - 2 sides for the main arena and the top surface designs.
- These are printed this way to ensure that there is a smooth surface on the top and bottom of the board.
- 2 - Magnetic hockey sticks and strikers (for under-table control)
- 2 - Arch Legs
- 2 - Guard pieces
- Optional, for a increased challenge during game play.
- 10 - Player score counter printed pieces
- Optional, and I would recommend printing these in PLA if printed in two colors as the color changes come out more clean, but PETG-HF can work as well.

Printing & Assembly

- Print all the components as per the provided print profiles. Place the top surface of the play area into the bottom of the game arena using the alignment tabs. This should press fit in without the need for glue, but if you want the surfaces to be extra flat a little super glue can bond the surfaces well.
- Slide the goals onto each of the game boards while the arena is flat on a table, do not apply excessive force.
- On both side A and side B of the game board, you'll find 3 holes on each side (left and right), for a total of 12 holes.
- Insert M3 heat set inserts into all 12 holes, flush with the wall. Do not over-insert and allow them to cool completely.
- Take the side arch pieces and attach them to the game board using M3 8mm screws in all 12 holes as shown in the animation.
- For the magnetic components:
- Insert three-12mm x 2mm magnets or two-12mm x 3mm into each handle and each striker.
- These are designed for a press fit and glue is optional.
- If you need more magnetic force, you can stack another magnet on the player's under-table stick.
Note: Magnet strength can vary, so adjust the number of magnets as needed on the stick for optimal gameplay. If we need to make different print profiles for larger magnets, let us know!
Design Features
We took inspiration from arches in architecture to create a game that's not only fun but visually interesting. The unique arch theme gives Magnet Hockey a stylish look, while the magnetic control system ensures smooth, under-the-table gameplay. Combined with fast-paced action similar to air hockey, this design offers an engaging and aesthetically pleasing gaming experience.
This is our first larger print with PETG-HF from Bambu Lab, and we must say that we're very impressed! It feels like an injection modeled game with good weight and strength. This would print just as well with PLA, but wanted a fun design with the new filament offering. Feel free to upload a print profile for PLA!
