Description

Disclaimer: This design uses a hot glue gun to attach printed parts to the outside of a purchased pizza cutter. The adhesive is EVA-based, a material commonly used in food packaging and considered safe for indirect food contact. In this design, the glue should never come into direct contact with food or the blade. The blade itself remains fully removable for proper cleaning and sanitizing.

That said, if you're not comfortable using adhesives near a kitchen tool, this might not be the right project for you just yet. I'm exploring alternative attachment methods that prioritize both safety and functionality, but I haven’t landed on a better solution — yet.

I printed the red team and there's no slots for the battery to slide Into.

Can you add a photo? By default it prints with supports that need to be removed.

I figured that out. I removed the supports and everything worked. I'm still new to 3d printing and I've never had to remove supports like that.

No worries! Welcome to the hobby, I'd love to see a picture of the finished pizza cutter. And if you liked my model feel free to give me a boost, it helps subsidize my filament and maintenance costs.

decent print quality but very wasteful design with AMS. glueing on a plastic pizza cutter was a no for me so I tossed it.

Thanks for the honest feedback — I really appreciate it. I totally understand the concern around gluing and wasteful 3D prints. I actually experimented with just painting the design at first, but didn’t feel comfortable having paint that might flake off. So I stuck with either printing it in one solid color (less realistic looking), or coloring it with multiple filaments and an AMS (wasteful) When time allows, I’d love to experiment with printing the colors separately and maybe creating a more mechanical attachment to the pizza cutter. But that introduces new challenges — heatset inserts could work, but I’m worried about melting the original plastic housing. An elastic clamp is another idea, though I’m not sure it would hold up well when applying pressure while cutting. In the end, I felt this adhesive approach was the best balance — it keeps the 3D printed plastic and glue completely away from the blade and food contact areas. The blade is still fully removable for cleaning and sanitizing. That said, I’m always open to improving the design and would love any suggestions or feedback on how to make it better! What i'm hearing is that I need to make it clearer that this design uses adhesive near food, and I should disclaim that more clearly.

Can I ask if the 4 stars are for wastefulness, and glue, or did you have any other issues?

How does the pizza cutter connect to the print?

It's just glued. I used hot glue, but you can use epoxy as well.

Have you thought about making a version that utilizes a rotary blade cutter like you can get at the hardware/craft store?
