Guan Yu—Warm Wine and the Slaying of Hua Xiong
The slaying of Hua Xiong while warming wine is a classic episode from the epic historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It recounts how Hua Xiong, a formidable general under Dong Zhuo, successively vanquished several leading figures, including Pan Feng. Guan Yu, stepping forward, volunteered to engage Hua Xiong and, in the briefest of moments before the wine had even cooled, slew him, instantly establishing Guan Yu's reputation amongst the contending warlords.
