Print Profile(1)

Description
"Water Suppressing Divine Beast" - a type of dragon, used to subdue the unruly "water monsters" under bridges. Another is called Chi, one of the nine sons of a legendary dragon. It has a big mouth and a belly that can hold a lot of water. In architecture, it is often used as decoration for drainage outlets, called Chi-head water dispersers. On bridges, they are carved on the column heads of the railings or on the dragon gate stones of the arches. They are more common on stone bridges.
