Tandy 1000 HX Expansion Bay Top Cover

I created this by first using a real Tandy 1000 EX cover for reference. I then used measurements from my HX PC and referenced detailed photos kindly provided by Michael Pittsley to apply the differences between the EX and HX covers.

I endeavoured to make this an accurate reproduction. I made one deviation by adding a small chamfer to the front lip. Otherwise, a small protrusion on the PC will interfere with the cover latching fully. This is likely why so many HX's are missing their original cover.

The smooth curve at the back of the cover did make it challenging to come up with good print profiles. I have provided two:

• One which limits the overhang to 45 degrees. I used this quite a bit with my fit testing print and was reliable and clean when printed with Bambu PLA Matte. The fact that it is not as round as the original does bug me though. I am also not sure whether PLA is really quite suitable as a cover on a warm
• A second profile with only a 20 degree overhang. This prints slower and isn't as clean either, but I do like the more rounded edge. Note that this profile has a 100.4% scale so the cover comes out at the correct size in Bambu ABS-GF. ABS-GF gives a textured finish which is closer to the original while still not warping too badly.

I have included variations of raw model files as well as the Fusion CAD file if you would like to experiment more yourself.

Note: The small “vase” on the plate is part of my solution to getting a print profile with clean prints. Just discard when finished printing.
