I looked for hours to find a perfect orb ball for my kids to use as an accessory to their “Inside Out” costumes.  After finding nothing I designed this.  You'll need to print both files as one is an inner part and the other is an outer part that clamp together very snugly.  I have printed the halves with and without supports and a brim to ensure plate adhesion.  I'm not so sure there's much difference other than the inside might be slightly smoother if you use supports.  I also set wall thickness to 1mm and added 100% infill just in case.  The orb is an 80mm diameter sphere with 2mm walls.  I think printing with white filament works better over a translucent filament as you can see in one of my example photos with Yellows or Blues that the white filament gives better glow.  You can also use colored filaments and white lights.  There are so many variants.  I would probably stay away from dark/black filaments if you want to light them.  My models pictured are only printed in white or translucent white with colored LEDs inside.  You might have to clean up the edges of the clasp just a little bit but it should snap together snugly.  Insert “balloon lights” in the orb ball and have fun!  I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks, just what I needed for a prop, just mocking it up.

I am trying to rate this for you but as my printer didn't register a completion I can only give you three stars. Would you be happy for me to rate this for you with three stars or would you rather I didn't rate it? It seems the ratings can be a bit contentious so I want to get your view on it.

Hey thanks for reaching out. I am not the creator of the print profile and I have had others saying that it's not working well for them with the settings that SaraR used when adding the print profile. I have no control over the print profile but I will reach out and see if the original poster can remove it. I suggest slicing it on your own as others have said that works better. I'm curious to know. I have printed 8 of them with minimal support on a Creality printer with no issues whatsoever

A group of us are doing Inside Out characters for Halloween, and I thought I'd make us some props. Glad I found this print - I had never heard of balloon lights before, and these turned out exactly how I hoped they would. I added a print profile for future makers that I hope is helpful!

You should be able to print it from the stl file. Just be sure to add a brim for plate adhesion and support so the top will not fall in. Set walls to 100% infill and you're good to go!
