Description

This is a TPU blade guard I made for a World Axe Throwing League (WATL) regulation axe that has a 4" blade width.

The original soft rubber guard (temporary for shipping I guess?) had already started to fail when it arrived.  3D Printer to the rescue! I think my replacement turned out really well and safer too!  It’s more durable and stretches nicely over the bit, holding it securely.  I found it to fit (well enough) inside a canvas cover/sheath like the ones we got below.

Problem with original guard (axes are sharp)

The TPU profile is very straightforward and prints quickly.  Thin wall detection is the only real customization.  One nice thing about the guard in TPU is that the common issues with stringing don’t matter much here, adding a little character.  At only about 4 grams, consider making extra to give away.

Axe throwing is a very beginner friendly sport and a lot fun for any skill level.  We hope you have a great time!

Cheers,

MJDD
