Description

***This project uses custom supports please read the instructions below! This model will not thread together until that custom support is removed***

You know how it feels when you get to work or school and forget your headphones? My daughter wanted a little box to put school stuff and headphones in in the style of a giant life-saver. Yes, I know the candy is “Life Savers". The “S” is left off on purpose. If you put corded headphones in this model make sure you put them on the male thread side of the box and not the female side or the cord may get caught in the thread. This model can be scaled up a lot of desired, but making it smaller may result in weak threads.

Boosts are highly appreciated!

Instructions:

  1. Break the custom support at the center hole one the male side by squeezing it at the end and it should break loose. (see images)
  2. When you remove the outer supports, you can use a flat head screwdriver to remove any support interface material left behind.
  3. With the custom support removed the halves should thread together, however they will thread together very smoothly if you rub a bar of soap on the threads.

-It's probably a bad idea to print this one with silk filament, but PLA,PLA+, PETG, ASA and ABS should work fine.

-Note: It will tell you there are non-manifold edges in the model, do not repair these it will print fine as is. Repairing the non-manifold edges will cause the custom support not to break away correctly.

I love this model. I had a heck of a time removing the supports, but I don't recall if I set them up or if they were part of a 3mf file. I would like to print another one and will just be careful with the support settings. You can see in the picture that I wasn't able to get a smooth detachment. I still love it though!

Good model. Printed PLA without a hitch on A1 Mini, 0.2 nozzle, 50% speed. The threads' tolerance is tight, so they required shaving high points to get proper threading, but now it's buttery smooth and not the least bit rattly.

Threads are a bit finicky, but overall good print!

Support Issue:both sides printed well but it would not screw together past halfway :(

You are most likely missing a piece of support material somewhere. That hasnt been removed make sure the center support was removed according to the instructions too. I suspect you probably didn’t remove the center support in the hole. There is a special mention of that in the instructions and how to remove it. It will not fully screw together until that step is done.

I'm not able to upload a photo for some reason, but I just printed on my Kobra 3 this and it's awesome!!! Thanks so much for the model. No issues with the threading at all or the piece breaking off. I did use supports around the threads, so that probably helped them print smoothly. :)
