Description

The Aircraft

Douglas C-74 Globemaster

  • Description: The C-74 was a large, long-range military transport aircraft developed by Douglas Aircraft Company during World War II. It featured a high-wing design, four Pratt & Whitney R-4360 radial engines, and a spacious cargo bay capable of carrying heavy and oversized equipment, vehicles, and troops.
  • Development History: The C-74 was developed to meet the U.S. Army Air Forces' need for a heavy-lift aircraft capable of transoceanic flights. The first prototype flew in 1945, but production was limited to 14 units due to the end of World War II, which diminished the immediate need for such a large transport.
  • Major Accomplishments: Despite its limited production, the C-74 was one of the largest aircraft of its time and played a pioneering role in establishing transatlantic airlift routes. It laid the groundwork for future heavy-lift transport aircraft designs.

The Model

This aircraft will go together beautifully for you and may not even require glue! Please refer to the pictures for details, but things should make sense if you test fit them first.

As always, please share your builds! I LOVE seeing what you all do with these!

Here's the stand that I used in the photos: https://makerworld.com/en/models/588924#profileId-510254
