Description

The Aircraft

Douglas C-133 Cargomaster

  • Description: The C-133 Cargomaster was a large strategic airlifter powered by four turboprop engines, designed specifically to carry oversized cargo such as intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and heavy military equipment. It featured a high-wing configuration with a distinctive, elongated fuselage.
  • Development History: The C-133 was developed by Douglas to meet the need for an aircraft capable of transporting the growing size and weight of military cargo during the Cold War. It first flew in 1956 and entered service in 1957, serving as a crucial part of the U.S. Air Force's strategic airlift capability.
  • Major Accomplishments: As the first aircraft designed specifically for heavy, oversized cargo, the C-133 played a vital role in transporting ICBMs and other large equipment. It was a key asset for the Strategic Air Command, supporting U.S. nuclear deterrence during the Cold War. The C-133 remained in service until 1971, when jet-powered transports replaced it.

The Model

This aircraft will go together beautifully for you and may not even require glue! Please refer to the pictures for details, but things should make sense if you test fit them first.

As always, please share your builds! I LOVE seeing what you all do with these!
