Description

The Aircraft

Douglas C-124 Globemaster II

  • Description: The C-124 Globemaster II, known as "Old Shaky," was a heavy-lift transport aircraft with a double-deck fuselage, four powerful Pratt & Whitney R-4360 radial engines, and clamshell cargo doors with an integrated ramp, allowing for easy loading of oversized cargo.
  • Development History: Based on the C-74, the C-124 was developed to address the U.S. Air Force's need for a more capable long-range transport. It first flew in 1949 and entered service in 1950, quickly becoming the backbone of U.S. military airlift operations.
  • Major Accomplishments: The C-124 was the primary heavy transport aircraft for the U.S. Air Force during the 1950s and 1960s. It supported critical missions in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was used extensively for humanitarian missions, transporting troops, equipment, and supplies worldwide.

The Model

This aircraft will go together beautifully for you and may not even require glue! Please refer to the pictures for details, but things should make sense if you test fit them first.

As always, please share your builds! I LOVE seeing what you all do with these!

Here's the stand that I used in the photos: https://makerworld.com/en/models/588924#profileId-510254
