Description

Have you ever thought to yourself “I want to pour desiccant beads right into the 4L cereal container I use as a dry box, but still neurotically want it separated a bit from the roll of filament”? Me too!

Here's my attempt at a solution: a simple patform/riser that lets you fill the bottom of the cereal container with desiccant beads while supporting the roll of filament above it. Uses much less filament than the little containers I've seen used (and who needs a box in a box anyway?), but keeps your filament dignified and proud.

The fit is a bit loose, so you can slide them in/out and they are thin and may flex a bit depending on the weight of the spool and how much desiccant you pour in.

The design is meant to fit these Praki containers from Amazon, but may fit others too. Dimensions of the print are roughly 208x80mm (70mm at the smaller end)

I love it. So little material and it works. Added a super low material use hygrometer holder for the perfect, cheap and quick solution. Parts I used. Thanks! On another note... 1/4 cup of desiccant works perfect. - The container I used is located here: https://amzn.to/3W3PCtT - The Hygrometer I used is located here: https://amzn.to/4gDVQJf - The low material use hygrometer bracket I used is here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/147061#profileId-160446

Hey that's great! I almost tried to design something similar, but ended up just resting the hygrometer in the hole in the spool. Thanks for the inspiration!

we’re doomed. my favourite dirt cheap hidden gem brand of filament that for some strange reason no one else knows about can go up to 30mm3/s is now using cardboard spools. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

For what it's worth, cardboard Kingroon is all I've ever had. I just printed some spool rings for them and they work fine in my AMS
