ESP8266 D1 Mini 3-Button Case (plus USB)
Print Profile(1)

Description
Case with 3 push buttons that holds a LOLIN/WEMOS D1 Mini ESP8266 micro-controller and a USB-A breakout board. To maintain a compact size, there's not enough room for pin headers, you'll need to solder wires onto the board(s) and buttons directly. The USB board is useful for interfacing with other devices, but you can also just run wires out the hole directly if you prefer.
The button assemblies are from my other model here. See the video and text on that page for instructions for assembling them. For convenience I've included a separate plate in the print profile here with three copies of the parts needed for the buttons, using the “+0.2mm” Guide piece from the “Parts for Remixes” print profile there. If you have issues assembling the buttons themselves please read through the info on that page.
Notable Features
- Lid and endcap slide on/off and friction-lock in place
- Built-in LED light glow is visible through white PLA walls
- Hole for accessing reset button
- Includes a slide mount that be attached to a wall using a Command Strip or similar adhesive, allowing the case itself to be easily removed for servicing
- USB-A slot available on either side of the case, or removed entirely (different plates in the main print profile)
Supported Components
Fits LOLIN/WEMOS D1 Mini ESP8266 v2.x (micro-USB) for sure, including clones that are the same size (some of my v2.x clones even have USB-C on them). I don't have any proper v3.x or 4.x boards to test with so can't verify if those have the same form factor or not, but based on the official dimensions for the v4 board that one should fit too. Will NOT fit the ESP32-based D1 mini board, which is wider with two additional rows of pins.
Designed to accommodate these USB breakout boards specifically (approx. 17mm square), but the f3d file is included so you can modify it in Fusion 360 to fit other breakout board sizes if needed.
