Happy National Day to all!
On October 1, 1949, the grand ceremony celebrating the founding of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China was held in Beijing, the capital. At around 3 pm, Chairman Mao Zedong solemnly declared from Tiananmen Gate: “The Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China is founded today!” The military band played the “March of the Volunteers,” and the first five-starred red flag was raised in the center of the square. After Mao Zedong read the announcement of the Central People's Government, a grand military parade took place. The People's Liberation Army troops marched through Tiananmen Gate with the steps of victorious soldiers, and the newly established People's Air Force flew over the capital in a nimble formation. In the evening, the mass parade began, with workers, peasants, students, and citizens holding red flags and jubilantly cheering the birth of the People's Republic of China. On that day, all the major cities already liberated throughout the country held enthusiastic celebratory activities. October 1, 1949 was designated as the day the People's Republic of China was declared established, and every October 1 is the National Day of the People's Republic of China.
