BMW i3 Glove Compartment Lock Clip (30 deg)
Print Profile(0)
Description
I recently purchased a 2015 BMW i3 Tera World REx vehicle and, amongst other things it needs fixing, the glove storage compartment would not close. The clip / loop that the lid latches onto the lock with was broken and in bits. So I modelled a new one after the original piece and, after several attempts at finding at what angle it should protrude, I found that 30 degrees does the trick. It couldn've been easier, but without the original in decent enough shape, I couldn't measure it, therefore I needed to print 7 of these, in 5 degree increments.
This is the one. Printed in regular old PLA. I'll see how long it lasts, may have to reprint in PLA+ or some carbon fiber reinforced FLA in the future.

I printed this using an Ankermake m5c, using the organic supports, print with the bridge of the clip facing the bed, 100% fill (probably not necessary, but at less than 4g, I was okay with it).

Once printed, it fits into the spot of the original one with no other adaptation. Even the original screws and screw cap work. Be careful not to overtighten but the hole for the screws is long enough (10mm).
I looked everywhere for this before venturing to make my own, and was pretty close to having to order a replacement glove compartment since JUST this part is not available for purchase. Hopefully I can save someone else $90 by printing this instead of replacing the whole thing.
