How to Test the Safety of Toys with a Toy Tester
Toddlers can choke on small parts from toys. You can use a toy tester to check whether toys or small parts in your home are small enough to pose a danger to your toddler aged 0-3 years.
Small Objects Everywhere
Both indoors and outdoors, there are small objects that a toddler might find fun to put in their mouth. These can be anything from dice, small blocks, and broken toys to screws or buttons.
That's why you should always be extra careful with small parts that are lying around. Your toddler could choke on these small parts if they accidentally swallow them.
How to Test Your Toddler's Toys: The toy tester matches the size of a toddler's throat. It measures 3.17 cm in diameter, 2.54 cm on the short side, and 5.71 cm on the long side.
- Place the toy or other small objects into the tester.
- If the object can sit inside the tester without sticking up over the edge, it is dangerous for your toddler.
- Do not force anything into the tester. Whatever you are testing should always be able to slide into the tester without any force.
Original Toy tester is developed by The Danish State Safety Department.
